GETTING AND HAVING AT THE GETTY

This two-hour GUIDED WRITING TOUR takes place during the special summer twilight hours at the Getty Center.

Acquisition happens. All life-long, we continually acquire experience and history. How do we choose what to keep? And what we can use?

Through writing, we can make good use of everything. We have the power to transform emotion and recollection into shared experience, infused with our unique point of view.

Simply transforming the blank page with written words is a kind of magical alchemy. I'll guide you toward freeing up your process, and where to take it from there.

WHAT WE’LL DO

We’ll meet at the Getty Center, where we’ll surround ourselves with rare, ancient, and carefully curated examples of getting and having, and I’ll guide you through 1-2 timed, experiential writing prompts evoked by current exhibits.

I’ll show you how to recognize the metaphors in your memories, and use your point of view as a tool to write what you’ve always wanted to write. Afterwards, we’ll meet at the Cafe for refreshments, reading and supportive feedback.

This tour is designed to ignite your imagination and inspire significant inner shifts in how you view yourself and your writing now. You’ll leave with pages filled and new ideas taking shape.
